LIBRARY
Here at Treasures of Innocence, we aspire to help children to grow upon the 4 pillars of Courage, Curiosity, Creativity and Confidence. At the primary level, we bring the world to them in the form of Wall libraries, to fill up their minds with the colorful stories from beyond their reach, as well as prompt them to contribute to this world with stories of their own.

Wall Library Program by Treasures of Innocence
-
The library program is one of the major programs that Treasures of Innocence has been running since the beginning. Treasures of Innocence believes that there is a need to strengthen primary school children's reading habit and bringing forward their inner creativity as well as leadership skills. With the Library Project, we set up Wall libraries at schools and communities across West Bengal sustainably and cost-effectively.
-
This program targets children from primary School, between classes 3 to class 5, across 34 schools and communities across West Bengal.
The Sustainable and cost-effective Wall Library
-
We provide libraries made of canvas cloth, with 9 pockets sewn onto it. The pockets are thematically segregated, with topics ranging from books in West Bengal’s regional language Bengali, English, to books of science, Art and more.
-
The pockets are decorated using scrap material, and the props provided along with the library are made with recycled and environment friendly materials.
The Mini-Storybooks written by our children
The 9th pocket of our library is dedicated to the children part-taking in this program, to express their inner creativity through mini storybooks. These are made by the children, for the children. Everything starting from the story concept writing, illustrating and book decorating is made solely by the children themselves.
“Swapner Tori”, the boat of dreams
The 6th pocket of the library is reserved for Treasures of Innocence’s very own annual activity storybook called the Swapner Tori or the Boat of Dreams. Swapner tori is a black and white book with children’s stories and illustrations printed in it, along with certain fun games activities. It also contains a link to the animated versions of these stories.
Child Cabinet: Boipoka Bahini
The very successful concept of the child Cabinet is reimagined in our library program in the form of the Boipoka Bahini. Boipoka Bahini are cabinets that maintain the library register and all the elements of the library under the supervision of their teachers. The members of this Boipoka Bahini wear crowns made of mango leaves to demarcate their position in their library class.
Making Learning Fun through Interactive Activities:
Sock puppets are provided along with our libraries for children to use as part of their library experience. Children and educators use these puppets, and further masks and more to enact stories during the library period.
